Healthcare Needs changes Pt.2

One of the biggest changes I would like to see in healthcare is the time of an appointment to be longer for someone who has a slower verbal processing speed. For someone like me I am not allowed enough time to fully understand what I am being told in an appointment. With this being said I also feel as if this should be no additional cost.  If a doctor cannot explain something to me in a way I can understand, that is a problem on them not on the patient. Doctors need to find ways to explain things in a more simple way rather than complex. If they have to use complex terms, then they should be required to break it down for the patient whether or not they are neurodivergent.

I would also like to see a change in the medical office spaces. Something more offices should have is a sensory friendly room, this room should have a very low light setting. They should have little to no noise and sensory friendly chairs, toys and activities. This way people who are neurodivergent and autistic can stimulated and ready before they go into their appointment. This will most likely help them to get not so overwhelmed.

As I do make this recommendation now, I would ideally like it to be set as mandatory in the near future in the city of Boston and surrounding cities.
